Endometriosis is when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus — on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or pelvic wall. It causes inflammation, scarring, and cyst formation that can directly reduce fertility. It affects an estimated 10% of women, and up to 50% of women facing infertility.
